Just a quick post about the Flyers/Capitals game tomorrow night...
Marty Biron will be starting in net for the Flyers. Its an interesting move by Stevens if you think about it. Antero Niittymaki typically plays well when he's got something to prove, and after his last outing against the Flames compounded with the recent excellent play of Biron, Niitty's definitely got something to prove. He's also played well against the Capitals this season. That said, I think Stevens is making the right choice. Biron has come in recently and really played well. If he's going to be the starter, he's got to play against teams like the Capitals. If Biron has a solid game, I'm sure his confidence really increases.
Danny Briere will be making his return to the lineup tomorrow night. He was very good against the Capitals in last year's playoffs, and it'd be nice to see him play a full game and start getting his name on the scoresheet.
Let's see if the Carter/Lupul/Hartnell line can continue their good play of late.
Can the Flyers continue to hold down Ovechkin? They've done a great job of it this season. They'll have a healthy group of defensemen to try to do the job. Containing Ovechkin is key, but the player I'm more worried about is Mike Green. The Flyers have to make sure they stay out of the penalty box because if they allow Mike Green to get too many chances in the offensive zone, he's going to make them sorry. He's so good on the power play. In addition to being disciplined, they have to make sure they hit Green hard and often. They need guys like Hartnell, Carcillo, Powe, Asham, and anyone else to get in on the forecheck. Green seems to disappear a little bit when he gets knocked around, or at least I've perceived that he does.
This should be a great game. Neither team really likes the other and Daniel Carcillo should add some extra friction to game. It will be a great game to watch.
