I've been quite busy of late and the lack of writing on the blog has shown this....
I thought the Flyers played well enough the other night to beat most teams. Unfortunately, the Red Wings aren't like most teams. They were able to take advantage of a few mistakes by the Flyers and cash in on some goals. Dan Carcillo got turned the wrong way on Datsyuk's first goal and Pavel absolutely took advantage of the split second of extra time he got and fired an absolutely perfect. And then he later made Ryan Parent miss on a check attempt and he then set up the game-tying goal.
I thought Marty Biron played a tremendous game for the Flyers but he unfortunately couldn't hang on for the win.
The Flyers will travel up to Buffalo to take on the Sabres tonight in an important game for both teams. The Sabres are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive and the Flyers are trying to hold onto fourth place. Both teams are on two game losing streaks, so neither is exactly hot at the moment.
That said, the Flyers have been playing better on defense and Marty Biron will again have the opportunity to give the Flyers a chance to win as he has been given the nod to start tonight. He will opposed by Patrick Lalime, who was lit up by the Flyers the last time the two teams met. The game should be interesting considering the bad blood between the teams at the end of last game. The Flyers are 3-0 against the Sabres this season, and a season series sweep would be excellent at juncture of the season.
John Stevens has been switching up the lines at practice. Who knows if he's going to use them for the game tonight, but it will be very interesting to see how they do if he does switch it up.
The Flyers should win this game. They really have to win this game. Now is not the time to go on losing streaks.
